Helping Seniors in Southeast Oakland County, MI Since 1999
The Birmingham Story
The Home Instead Senior Care family network of locally owned franchise offices was developed with a passionate desire to be your trusted source in helping your family keep your aging mother, father, grandparents or friends in their home as they grow older.
In the Birmingham area you will find a locally owned and operated, growing home care business that began with the desire to serve the needs of our community's elderly adults.
Tina Rowley, R.N., C.S.A, began her franchise nearly ten years ago out of her passion for caring for the elderly. Since her Home Instead Senior Care franchise began, well over twelve hundred seniors have been helped in their desires to age in place and stay at home as long as possible.
It's that simple. This is all we do and because the home care services your loved one or friend needs must come from someone you trust locally, the Birmingham Home Instead Senior Care office is passionate about exceeding the needs of the elderly in our community. We're not a giant corporation run from the top down - we're a community-based, friendly and responsive office right here in Birmingham.
About Our Owners
Mrs. Rowley, the owner of Home Instead Senior Care, Birmingham, Michigan since 1999, is a registered nurse. Prior to her present work, Tina developed a role as a project manager for nursing at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland. Her work revolved around the elder population and the need for better understanding, by all professionals, of the elder person's unique needs and care. She put into place specialized protocols to improve the care of the hospitalized elderly. This information has proven invaluable in her present work as owner of a home care company that provides assistance to seniors. The assistance in activities of daily living and companionship, help seniors remain in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their home.
Since beginning Home Instead Senior Care, Tina has been involved with the community in a variety of roles. She sat on the Outpatient Palliative Care Support Committee for several years at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, was chairperson of SCAN I for four years, Senior Coordination Aging Network, sits on the board of Geriatric Social Workers of Southeast Michigan, is President of NPDA-Michigan Chapter, National Private Duty Association and is on the board of BASCC, Birmingham Area Senior Center. Tina also is a member of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, Troy Chamber of Commerce, and the Optimist Club.
Home Instead Senior Care has headed up several outreach projects that assist the elderly. Our largest project to date, Be a Santa to a Senior, generated 2500 gifts for seniors who other wise would not have enjoyed a Christmas. Other projects include Spring flower planting and Fall yard clean-up for seniors living alone and financially in need. We also work with an area K through 8th grade school and provide children the opportunity to read to seniors which brings delight to the seniors. Home Instead Senior Care sponsors and facilitates a caregiver support group at BASCC, Birmingham Area Senior Center and the Troy Community Center.
About Our CAREGivers
Today, many relationships are formed daily through CAREGivers who provide home care help to clients and their families who desire assistance with activities that used to be simple. Tasks like grabbing a can of soup from the top shelf, opening the mail, reading a book, folding laundry, tying shoelaces or scrapbooking family history are not as easy as they used to be for many seniors.
No matter where seniors live, in their home, in assisted living facilities or even nursing homes, Home Instead Senior Care is currently providing thousands of hours of senior home care services annually within Southeast Oakland County, Michigan.
These senior home care services may include assistance with trips to the doctor, reminders to take the right medication at the right time, meal preparation, light housekeeping, errands, shopping and even Alzheimer's care. The result is companionship allowing seniors to feel safe and independent while they age in place in the home they've lived in for years.
And in those situations when a client has aging-related medical needs beyond our home care capabilities, we refer them to our close partners in the health care industry.
