Local Senior Care Company Selected by AARP for Its Commitment to Older Workers

Home Instead Senior Care, a local company serving areas from San Pedro to Marina Del Rey and the South Bay area, has been selected to join the AARP's National Employer Team (NET) - a network of employers who value the experience and skills of the 50+ worker.
The NET program connects workers 50 and older with employment opportunities at companies that now include Home Instead Senior Care, an international non-medical care giving company with more than 800 offices worldwide including the local franchise.
To join this elite team, employers must undertake a detailed application process to demonstrate their interest in hiring mature workers. AARP's Web site (www.aarp.org/employerteam) provides information on the employers and the positions they have posted on their Web sites, along with links to each employer's AARP career page.
"We have always valued the mature worker and are thrilled to be a part of this program," said Denise de Cock, owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Torrance. "We are proud to be an employer that recognizes the many contributions mature workers bring to the workforce."
Home Instead Senior Care strives to keep seniors independent. Its caregivers provide non-medical care and companionship to seniors, including companionship, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping and escort for errands and shopping. All caregivers are screened, trained, bonded, insured and have successfully passed thorough criminal background checks.
"Our National Employer Team members recognize the changes occurring in the labor force and value the diverse experiences that baby boomers can bring to employers facing shortages," said Deborah Russell, AARP's Director of Workforce Issues. "AARP's NET members come from fields ranging from retail to travel to security and hold positions like tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service and country director for the Peace Corps." Others recently named to the NET are the IRS, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Peace Corps, Scripps Health, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Synergy HomeCare, AnswerNet and Vedior North America.
