June Care Professional of the Month: Michael D
Michael has been with us for a few months now, and he has been impressing us, his clients, and their loved ones from Day 1!
Michael began a career caring for others after his 4th daughter had to be airlifted to Children’s Hospital as a newborn, back in 2002. Watching the team that saved his daughter’s life, he realized a passion for helping others, left his career in the home building business, and began what would be a 20-year career as an EMT.
Fast forward to 2024, he has expanded his career of caring by joining our team of Professional Caregivers! On a side note, Michael and his wife also own and operate a Thai restaurant in Golden, Thai Gold, so he is a very busy man!!!
Our care managers, who frequently see Michael in action with his clients say that he radiates kindness, calmness, and patience, and engages well with his clients, with a special talent for caring for those with dementia.
One activity some of Michael’s clients look forward to with him each week, is walking outdoors! Whether it’s walking the half-mile to church with his 92-year-old client who lives downtown or accompanying a very active client on her regular walks around Sloan’s Lake, he is always attentive and a wonderful companion.
The families of his clients also rave about him, and some have even visited his restaurant for some of the authentic Thai food his wife is so well-known for. Having Michael on our team brings us such pride, and we are all so grateful to him for everything he does!
